Hans Strom is the founder and President of Strom Commercial Real Estate. Since arriving in San Diego in 1996, he has become one of San Diego's preeminent landlord and tenant representatives, completing transactions to date in excess of 10 million rentable square feet and valued at approximately 1 billion dollars. Hans’ focus is San Diego’s urban core which spans downtown proper, the East Village, and uptown district; his tenant focus includes these areas along with the traditional downtown high-rise office market. Hans’ expertise is not limited to downtown and he has represented clients with leasing and investment needs throughout the mid-cities suburban office and flex markets.
Hans began his 20-year real estate career in Rochester New York in the mid-eighties and quickly became Director of leasing for Pyramid Brokerage/Widewaters Group, Inc. He was responsible for two of the largest suburban office park developments in the area leasing over 700,000 square feet to Fortune 500 clients. Additionally, Hans began his interest in non-traditional and niche urban space as an independent contractor for Citicorp spearheading rehabilitation, lease-up, and sale of a historic 200 year-old, 14-story downtown high-rise.
Hans joined the San Diego offices of CB Richard Ellis in 1996 as a Vice President at CB Richard Ellis. He and his partner represented both 550 Corporate Center and the Civic Center Plaza and brought both projects to 99% occupancy over the course of a year and a half. Hans joined the Irving Hughes Group in 1998 as a Senior Vice President; in this capacity, he exclusively represented tenants in downtown San Diego and Mission Valley.
Hans founded Strom Commercial Real Estate in 2001 and since that time has used his in-depth market knowledge of non-traditional urban core and downtown niche space to meet the unique and challenging needs of his clients.
Hans earned a BS in business from the University of Nevada Las Vegas in 1985 and is a licensed broker in California. He lives in Point Loma with his wife Liza and their four children – Niko (13), Katya (10), Harrison (3) and Baby (1).
